schemes several different ways.
Blocking Skill Cues

2. Thumbs parallel, 2-3 inches apart
3. Shoulders forward, knees in loaded position
4. Jump just after attacker
5. Quick sets—jump with hitter
6. Penetrate immediately, low and tight
Eyework
When preparing to block it is important to identify, watch and respond
with the correct information as the opponent prepares its offensive
attack.
1. Focus on the ball coming from the passer.
2. Eyes immediately locate the setter.
3. Watch the ball come out of the setter’s hands—get
direction.
4. Eyes go to the hitter.
