Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Months before, anticipating.
November comes and the season begins. February is a long time to
wait. We realize that we have a long road ahead of us. Waiting...
A month goes by, still waiting...
Another month goes by. Practices get longer and harder. Still waiting...
We have one month left. We begin to practice everyday. It gets
harder. We are very tired. We hurt all over. We can hardly move
our bodies, but we push ourselves to our limits. We are working
hard for that one moment. That moment is coming soon. That moment
is all we can think of. That moment is a chance in a lifetime, that
many don't get the opportunity to experience. That moment is stepping
on the dance floor at State.
As you walk on the floor, all eyes are on you. If you don't show
them that you are in control, they will eat you up. It's that moment
when your nerves are so bad that you think your going to be sick.
It's that moment when everyone is cheering for you. Then, at that
moment, there is pure silence. Waiting...
In one moment the music starts. Your mind can't remember anything
from your dance, but your body does it anyway. Your leaps and jumps
are better then they have ever been before. You feel like you are
on air. You and your team are taking charge. You are showing the
state what your team is all about. At that moment, nothing can be
better. The music is about to end, but you feel like you can go
on forever. Then, at that moment, the music stops. You hold your
last pose in disbelief. You cannot believe that it is all over.
The crowd is cheering so loud that you cannot hear yourself breathe.
Then, at that last moment, your hear your name. You and your team
are going to finals. You realize that you have a chance, for that
one moment, to do it again.
That evening, waiting...
